The State Corporation Commission's Hearing Examiner has recommended approval for the Dominion - Trans Allegheny Interstate Line 500kV transmission line project, also known as the Loudoun Line - the most vigorously contested case in SCC history.

The recommendation by the Hearing Examiner was based on the utilities'. projected load flow analysis with minimal consideration given to the respondents'. analysis presented by some of the nation's foremost experts on the subject of electric transmission planning, pricing, economics and the environment.

Demand Side Management (DSM) was discounted as an "uncertainty" - yet it represents a vital component to local, state and national energy policies for ensuring long-term reliability of service.

As we are developing Commonwealth energy policies for the 21st Century, it is the time to support a candidate to the SCC judicial vacancy who is impartial and has the expertise to evaluate the complexities of matters such as the Loudoun Line case.

Now is the time to ask the State Corporation Commission to consider less expensive options to the $1.3 billion line and to take Demand Side Management seriously.
